What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique used for healing and stress reduction while promoting relaxation and surrender. The practitioner channels life force energy (Qi) through the client using various hands on and hands off techniques that activate the innate healing process while calming the mind, body and soul. This form of healing allows for stagnant energy to be released, which may manifest in the body as physical or emotional ailments. Reiki sends life force energy into the affected areas creating release, rest and an opportunity to recharge. Every session is different so come open minded and ready to receive a dose of tenderness and serenity.

How is a Reiki treatment given?

Reiki energy flows from the practitioner’s hands into and through the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table or comfortably  lying on the ground on a blanket or yoga mat. Treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing, if necessary or preferred. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the client's body in a series of hand positions sequentially moving above and around the body. These include positions around the head, neck, torso, arms, legs and the common chakra energy centers. The positions may vary according to request, the clients needs, and intuitively directed.

What does a Reiki treatment feel like?

What one experiences during a Reiki treatment varies somewhat from person to person. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. In addition, many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them. As the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings, a state of peace and well-being is experienced. Some drift off to sleep or report floating outside their bodies or have visions and other mystical experiences. Some clients feel tingling or warmth, while others may feel release and surrender to a sense of calm.  At the end of the treatment, clients feel refreshed with a more positive, peaceful, and balanced outlook.  Each client and each treatment will feel different. Your body will receive whatever healing it intuitively requires. Do your best to let go of expectations to allow the Reiki energy to flow naturally.

What can be treated with Reiki?

Reiki has a positive effect on all forms of illness, dis-ease, and negative conditions, physically, mentally and emotionally. This includes conditions like migraines, stomach aches, tooth aches, colds, flu, inflammation, tension, stress, anxiety, pain, depression, emotional sufferings, as well as serious illness like heart disease, cancer, arthritis,  and much more. The side effects of regular medical treatments have also been reduced or eliminated. Such as the negative effects of chemotherapy, post-operative pain and depression, as well as improving the healing rate and reducing the time needed to stay in the hospital. Reiki always helps. Stress reduction, deep relaxation and improvement in one’s physical and psychological condition are what most experience.

5.

How will this affect my current medical treatment and medications?

Reiki is not a substitute for medical or psychological diagnosis or treatment. Reiki works in conjunction with regular medical or psychological treatment. If one has a medical or psychological condition, it is recommended that one see a licensed health care professional in addition to receiving Reiki treatments. Reiki energy works in harmony with all other forms of healing, including medications, surgery, psychological care or any other method of alternative care, and will improve the results.  Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions, prescribe or perform medical treatment, or interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional.  Reiki does not take the place of traditional medical care, instead it is meant to complement and enrich any medical or psychological treatments and therapies. Please notify the Reiki Practitioner of all physical ailments, disorders and injuries prior to the treatment and keep the practitioner informed of changes in overall health while receiving ongoing reiki treatments.

6.

How frequently should Reiki be received?

Reiki works best in a cumulative manner. Healing is very individualized and requires both time and continued practice. Long term imbalances in the body sometimes require multiple sessions in order to facilitate the level of relaxation needed by the body to heal itself. Each session will provide a take home component of recommendations and suggested self care practices. It is highly suggested to complete these tasks in order to allow the Reiki healing to properly assimilate.
